If you didn’t know before, The One Week Series is inspired by my time at The University of Pittsburgh. I graduated from there in 2010, and when I look back at that era, I can’t believe it was over a decade ago.
Like, how the hell am I 36 years old already? WHOA.
Alas, those years were some of the BEST of my life, and I often wish that I could return and spend more time on one of the best campuses in the country.
Yes, there was an ice cream social at the start of every year. And yeah, the athletes were all pretty cocky. Sorry, guys.
Now, of course, I made some embellishments for The One Week Series regarding the football team’s record and a few things that *totally* did NOT happen, but hey…I write fiction.
I LOVE writing in this world because it truly makes me happy. Every mention of The Cathedral of Learning, Soldiers and Sailors Lawn, Bouquet Gardens, and of course, “Hail to Pitt!” is enough to trigger a walk down memory lane.
If you’ve never ventured into this world, today is the perfect day to give it a try and I hope you love it!
F.L.Y.
Whit
P.S.–Below is a flashback picture of a few friends and me at a Pitt game. I’m in the red “Aero” hoodie, but I promise that was the last time I wore anything other than “Pitt” gear to Heinz Field 🙂
