Soooo, even though the latest storm destroyed most of our youngest trees in the backyard (sigh), there are still PLENTY of gardening things we’re handling this year.
So far this month, we’ve completed last year’s ‘grass-to-flowerbed’ project–taking the massive patch of unruly grass on the side of the house from this…

Then this…

Thennnn this… with nine newly planted arborvitae trees, sheet mulching with cardboard, and then…

THIS!

Muchhh better! I’m planning to install some edging + water rocks, and then I’ll plant some pretty plants here this fall. For now, I’ll focus on nursing the arborvitae trees back to health. <3
In the meantime, Baby G & I will be shopping for flowers, planting new trees elsewhere, and starting our next project with Mister G! It turns out she loves gardening as much as we do. *fingers crossed that her interest will last for years to come*

Hope your spring is off to a great start!

P.S. I found the cutest gardening bag on amazon for Baby G! It came with three tools (mini shovel, rake, & fork) + matching gloves + a water can + a cute little book! I only wish the bag included a small bucket for soil, but it’s awesome all around, and she loves carrying it around even when we aren’t gardening.
